I'm in a server where someone mentioned this idea and I can't stop thinking about what I'd do with it.
The original idea was the digivice essentially scanning a card the player has in a similar way to Takato's digivice scanning Guilmon in Tamers. My addition is that the digivice is essentially a memory counter device that players link together to begin a battle.
Back to topic, the scanned individual card is essentially brought to life in a similar way to the Ghost Game partners materialising, while the other cards are translucent and only have basic programming, sorta like drones.
The way to differentiate between standard cards and partner cards would be having said partners be represented by alternate art cards.
Feel free to share your ideas for what you'd do with a series of the anime based on the tcg, I'm super interested in this concept.
